The Man Who Steps Aside
This song emerges from a simple yet essential rhythm, with echoes and oblique scales traversed by unusual sounds. Lacking the traditional verse-chorus structure, it evolves through additions and subtractions, while the lyrics capture one of the artist’s most honest moments. He has reached a stage in life where there’s no longer a need to lie or struggle just to achieve something. It’s a slow, progressive dance, reminiscent of a scene from Barbet Schroeder's film La Vallée, where a group of inhabitants from the depths of New Guinea perform a strange and unsettling ritual dance. When you start moving sideways, it's because the usual perspective on things reveals itself to be nothing more than a collective fiction.
